Pope Francis’ message for the XXXVI World Youth Day…

Once again, I invite all of you, young people throughout the world, to take part in this spiritual pilgrimage leading to the celebration of the 2023 World Youth Day in Lisbon…I hope that all of us can experience these steps along the way as true pilgrims, and not merely as “religious tourists”! May we be increasingly open to God’s surprises, for he wants to light up our path.

For WYD 2023, PORTUGAL has been chosen as the next country. ST. MARK pilgrims will be joining hundreds of thousands of youth and young adults from around the world. Preparations have already commenced…please pray for us and the WYD preparation team!

World Youth Day is truly a pilgrimage experience. Each day will focus upon prayer, catechesis and the sacraments, with the highlight of participating in Mass with Pope Francis at the end of the week. There is a spiritual and physical component to this pilgrimage. There is a lot of walking, so prepare in advance in order to be ready. Prayer and daily Mass will be the spiritual component along with confession, praise and worship, and fellowship with thousands of other pilgrims from around the world.

ST. MARK
parish will be joining the ARLINGTON DIOCESEAN PILGRIMAGE… the Diocesan Youth Office is offering ONE pilgrimage this time due to our lingering pandemic. The cost will be $4350 per pilgrim. This is consistently the lowest price for what is being offered. The price includes round trip airfare, hotel accommodations (both in Fatima and Lisbon), most meals, bus and subway transportation, entrance to WYD festivities and cultural centers, 2 WYD t-shirts, and a WYD backpack plus other giveways!
